DR Rail Bus

H.L.R. takes delivery of a 1939 Rail Bus.  The prototype was used by the Priegnitz County Short Line Railways.  Equipped with two motors and engineer's areas at both ends of the units.  This did away with the need to turn round at the end of the route resulting in considerable time savings in operation on branch lines and short routes, which contributed to the popularity of this type.

This detailed model has directional and interior lighting.
Length: 445mm Weight: 1700g

Billy chassis - Stage 1

The left and right mainframes are joined together by four brass frame spacers.  The rear spacer has one countersunk hole positioned to the bottom whereas the other three are all identical with three holes each.

At this point the frames and buffer beams should be painted.

Billy who?

This is the little beauty, although for my version I plan to have a darker green for the body and a matt black for the smoke box.

Miserable Day

Well not much happening here today. First it snowed, then it rained and now, once again, it's gone dark.  Still plenty of time to clean, repair and build railway bit's and bobs for the forthcoming summer months.

I am in the process of building my first LIVE steam locomotive, namely Billy from Roundhouse Engineering.

With the chassis and boilers kits purchased, it's time to begin building and sharing my experiences with my fellow readers.

Check back soon to see my progress.
