Brookwood Survey

With the clocks changing tonight and the recommencement of running operations tomorrow, it was an important time for the permanent way gang to carry out their surveying for the forthcoming Brookwood extension. With their equipment and tools in hand they made an early start and completed their work by lunchtime, much to the Controllers delight.

Busy under the watchful eye of a gargoyle!
An aerial view from the teams overhead plane.
Hold it there, left a bit, that's it - done!
Another aerial shot of the team.
Soon they'll be traffic to Brookwood.

  1. Will you be painting the bridge? Matt black perhaps?

  2. Now that's interesting you should ask that. I've been toying with the idea of Battleship Grey or Red Oxide and now you give me a third option of Matt Black. Of course, as the aluminium has already oxidised, I could leave it, 'au natural' so to speak, an option favoured by many. With any paint system onto aluminium, a suitable aluminium primer should be used with a couple of coats of top coat. The paint must be fairly flexible to deal with the varying degrees in temperature of the British climate. Food for thought but I need to decide soon as the bridge is nearing its completion.
